Explore how to talk openly about death, and your end-of-life care wishes

Let’s start these important conversations and ensure your voice is heard.

Join us to indulge in some sweet treats while participating in a guided workshop that opens up this conversation in a way that is safe, empowering and will motivate you to think and talk about your end-of-life wishes.

This interactive and highly participatory workshop offers an engaging experience designed to leave a lasting impact.

Talking openly about death is very helpful for understanding our own and our loved ones’ wishes. When we have these conversations, particularly whilst healthy and well, it becomes easier for people to share their thoughts, fears, and preferences about end-of-life issues.

These conversations are also helpful for people who are grieving. When we discuss death, it makes it easier for people to share their feelings and they are more likely to receive the comfort they need.

These conversations also allow us to learn about our preferences for end-of-life care and funeral arrangements, ensuring our own and the wishes of our loved ones are respected and easing the burden on their families. By normalising these discussions, we create a supportive environment that promotes empathy, understanding, and better preparation for everyone involved.

This initiative is inspired by the grassroots movement Death Over Dinner, founded by Michael Hebb and is delivered in collaboration with Rebecca Bartel, who introduced it to Australia.

Each workshop goes for 1.5 hours and is inclusive of catering and is facilitated by a skilled and trained professional.

Here is what other participants say about RA Tas’ Death Over Dinner workshop:

“This was amazing, so engaging, fun, and valuable – the best workshop I’ve ever done”

“I wasn’t sure what to expect, however my expectations were definitely met, I loved how this workshop kept me engaged from the start. Having that initial thought of a loved one that has passed and to have that person with you throughout the workshop was brilliant, really made me think of things in a different way which I needed”

“I wasn’t sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. It’s made me think a lot about how important these conversations are and how they are often not had in time”
