Children’s Family Violence Counselling (ACORN)
ACORN provides free, confidential counselling to children and young people aged 5 to 18 who have experienced family violence.
Our trained counsellors work with each child or young person at their own pace. They focus on helping them feel safe, build confidence, and improve their emotional wellbeing. We also support parents and carers to understand what their child may be going through and how best to help them.
For Acorn counselling, we begin with a 90-minute appointment with the child’s primary parent or carer. This initial session can take place by phone or video and helps us understand your child’s needs.
After this, the practitioner will let you know whether our counselling service is the right option for your child.
If you decide to go ahead, your child will be booked for 50-minute sessions. These take place face-to-face at our Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport offices.
