Are you interested in becoming a volunteer?

One Hour. One Visit. A Life Changed.

Just one hour a fortnight of your time could bring connection, companionship, and joy to an older person experiencing loneliness.

Becoming an aged care volunteer visitor can be a rewarding and life-changing experience. You will make a friend, share stories and help someone who might be feeling isolated or lonely.

Volunteers usually visit for an hour once a fortnight at a time that suits you both. You might chat over a cuppa, go for a gentle walk, listen to music or read together, or simply spend quality time together.

Your commitment

  • Minimum of 1 hour per fortnight
  • Flexible days/times
  • Build a genuine connection

Why volunteer?

  • To make a lasting difference in someone’s life
  • To feel a strong sense of purpose and connection
  • To learn from someone with a lifetime of stories
  • To be part of a supportive community

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

  • Caring, reliable, and a good listener
  • Respectful of others’ experiences and backgrounds
  • Keen to give back to your community

No special skills needed – just kindness and consistency. ACVVS volunteers do not undertake any clinical or home care duties as part of their visits.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) is funded by the Australian Government and connects volunteers with older people to build meaningful friendships and reduce social isolation.
