Counselling and support for people engaging with, or affected by, the Disability Royal Commission.
Who is this service for?
People living with a disability, who have been affected by the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation of People with Disability.
How does this service work?
Our services offer support without judgement or discrimination in a safe and supportive environment. We are here to provide free and independent counselling and support for you, your family and carers.
The program provides trauma-informed counselling to assist in managing distress or processing trauma relating to the Disability Royal Commission and events that may be related to this.
We can provide support and assistance in completing warm referrals to other essential services such as housing, financial assistance and health related services as needed.
In some cases outreach counselling and support can also be provided.
Advocacy
Advocacy support is also available through Disability Royal Commission Advocacy Providers.
Advocates support or work on behalf of a person with disability to help them to speak out and defend their rights and interests.
To find advocacy support in your area, visit disabilityadvocacyfinder.dss.gov.au
